Butler's Brad Stevens hired as Boston Celtics head coach
Anything is possible, at least if your Brad Stevens. The 36-year old has spent the last six seasons serving as the head coach for Butler University. During his tenure, Stevens racked up 166 wins and led the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championship appearances in 2010 and 2011.
Since the departure of Doc Rivers, the Celtics have been on the hunt for his replacement. However, nobody could ever have imagined Boston going after Brad Stevens. It was speculated for awhile that Stevens might make the jump from Butler to coach a major university, but almost nobody predicted Stevens making the jump straight to the NBA.
Unfortunately for Stevens, the Celtics are currently in rebuilding mode, so any plans to make the playoffs will most likely be put on hold until a trade or free-agent signing is done to bring in more talent.
For now though, it would be in Stevens best interest to develop a strong relationship with All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo is a player that the Celtics can build around, and with young players like Jeff Green, Avery Bradley, and Jordan Crawford, the C's are only a superstar or two away from being one of the top teams in the NBA.
